Join us online! Tuesday, October 13, the foundation's executive director Daniel Belasco will present "Behind the Scenes: A 25-Foot Painting Goes to Bilbao" on Zoom. The talk features Noah's Focus II (1970), a stunning large-scale work from Held's Black & White period. When the foundation gifted the painting to the Guggenheim Bilbao last year, it was removed from its stretcher and rolled for safe transport from New York to Spain. It was then carefully reassembled and is now on view in the museum's permanent collection galleries. Belasco will discuss this labor-intensive relocation, as well as some historical context for the making of the work. This program is part of an ongoing annual series in honor of Held's birthday (October 12), and previews Belasco’s in-person conversation with curator Marta Blavia at the Guggenheim Bilbao on Thursday, October 22.
